The 12th edition of the African Under-20 Cup kicked off with the opening ceremony featuring performances by young participants from the host city. The ceremony included a coordinated movement where participants formed a hand-drawn flag and a large “V” symbolizing victory, followed by creating the geographical map of the African continent. Rai music artist Bellemou performed traditional pieces, contributing to the cultural celebration. Various political and administrative figures attended the event, including the Algerian Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Tahmi, the Minister of Sports of Benin, Didier Ablogan Djibodé, and the president of the National People’s Assembly of Algeria (APN). The opening match featured Algeria against Benin, and the evening match showcased Ghana against Egypt.
