PSG Prospect Hervin Ongenda Eyes Loan Move Amid Lack of Playing Time

Paris Saint-Germain forward Hervin Ongenda, once hailed as one of the club’s most promising young talents, could be set for a temporary departure from the French champions in search of regular first-team football.

According to Le Parisien, the 18-year-old striker—who signed a contract extension in March—has officially requested a loan move at the end of the season. Frustrated by limited opportunities under head coach Laurent Blanc, Ongenda is reportedly eager to gain experience elsewhere.

The Congolese-born attacker has found playing time hard to come by this campaign, with PSG’s attacking depth leaving little room for emerging prospects. While highly rated within the club’s academy, Ongenda has made only a handful of appearances this season and is keen to accelerate his development with more minutes on the pitch.

Club officials had initially turned down a previous request for a loan earlier in the season, preferring to keep the youngster in Paris. However, they are now said to be more open to the idea, recognising the need for Ongenda to play regularly to fulfil his potential.

Despite the lack of game time, PSG remains committed to Ongenda’s future, as evidenced by his recent contract renewal. The club views a loan as a way to bridge the gap between academy promise and first-team readiness.

If approved, a loan move this summer could give Ongenda the platform to showcase his talent in Ligue 1 or elsewhere, with several French and European clubs believed to be monitoring the situation.

Ongenda made headlines in 2013 after scoring in the Trophée des Champions, but since then, opportunities have been limited. With PSG continuing to compete on multiple fronts and boasting a star-studded squad, competition for places has remained intense.

The club is expected to make a decision on the player’s future in the coming weeks as they finalise their squad strategy for next season.
