
Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, and a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aisha Falode, have wooed private and public investors to do more in promoting and developing women’s football in Nigeria.
They made this call during the final game of the eighth Football4Girls tournament, organized annually by the FC Barcelona Femeni star Oshoala.
Speaking at the event, the Nigeria women’s national team superstar said:
“Women’s football is getting better every year; the awareness is there. So, it will be awesome for my teammates, friends, and everyone who would love to invest in football to look at the women’s side as well. ”
She stressed that more investment in female football in the country will encourage a lot of kids and create opportunities for them.
Meanwhile, the NFF board member, Falode, commended Oshoala for organizing the Football4girls tournament and expressed hope for the future of the women’s game.
Also, Falode commended the quality of football encouraged by the tournament, saying it will certainly prepare the girls well for international standard games.
“You can see the quality of football, and one of the players in the academy is already in the U17 team,” she highlighted.
“I see so many qualities, not only in the Oshoala academy but in the other teams that played here as well. That is to tell you that the future of women’s football in Nigeria is endless. It is great,” Falode added
Speaking further, Falode lauded Oshoala for giving back to the younger generation through the Football4girls tournament.
“This is what we will continue to preac. When you are given so much, you must give back,” she said.
Falode noted that Oshoala is giving back big to the younger generation, and she is making meaningful impacts.
“And you will have many girls who will aspire to be like her for what she’s done with football in Africa, in the world, it’s amazing. She has become an asset, not only to Nigeria but to Africa.” Falode concluded.
