
African giants Al Ahly SC defeated Modern Future FC after extra time in Abu Dhabi to win the Egyptian Super Cup title in an eye-catching encounter.
Al Ahly needed extra time to overcome their opponents with a 4-2 triumph in the game, which proved very difficult.
The Red Devils started very well as they scored the first 2 goals of the game within 35 minutes. Mahmoud Kahraba headed home a corner taken by Tunisia left back Ali Maaloul.
The former also assisted his compatriot Hussein El Shahat to score the second goal of the game.
Even during the start of the second half, Ahly took deep control of the till 76th minute when Modern Future pulled one back.
Mostafa Shobeir, who filled in the gap left by injured captain and goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, saw his clearance come off Omar El Said on the goal line.
Future levelled the scores 5 minutes later in the 81st minute when former Al Ahly player Mohamed Mahmoud long range shot deflected Ahmed Nabil Kouka.
With the game tied on level pegging after regulation time, extra time was needed to determine who carries the day.
Under fire striker Anthony Modeste came off with the 3rd goal from Maaloul’s pinpoint cross just 7 minutes under the clock in the extra time.
After Modeste scored the 3rd goal to put Al Ahly in front, he assisted again for Karim Fouad to round it off making it 4:2 after extra time.
This mean Al Ahly will go on to get their 14th Super Cup title as it was put on the line yesterday in Abu Dhabi.
