The Togolese Volleyball Federation’s 2012 sports season was highlighted by the national championship, where AS Douanes emerged as champions for the women’s category, defeating Agaza 3 sets to 0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23), while Etoile Filante claimed victory for the men, defeating AGAZA 2 sets to 1.
The national championship included 18 clubs, with 11 in the men’s category. The championship concluded the activities of the federation, which began in January with the distribution of game balls to the Leagues of Togo. The president of the federation, Ayawo Babanawo, led a delegation that distributed over a thousand balls across the country to popularize the sport.
The efforts of the Togolese Volleyball Federation were recognized by the African Confederation, which entrusted the qualifiers for the African Cadet Beach Volleyball Cup to Togo in March. Although Togo did not secure a win among the Cadets, the Togolese pair in the Men’s category qualified for the second round of the qualifiers, ranking third behind South Africa and Burundi.
In classic volleyball, Togo participated in the Zone 3 Solidarity tournament held in Burkina Faso, securing a bronze medal in the women’s category.
The Togolese federation also focused on training initiatives, including continuing the Volleyball program at schools, organizing refereeing courses, and training students on marking the game nets
