Morocco powerhouse Wydad Casablanca have rejected media reports that their head coach Rhulani Mokwena and his technical team have not been paid for the past eight months.
Reports went rife that Mokwena and his backroom staff have not been paid their entitlements for the past eight-month, sparking concerns about the club’s performance in the ongoing campaign.
In response, the Moroccan powerhouse has swiftly denied such reports and has asked the public to treat it with the needed contempt it deserve.
In a statement, Wydad Casablanca confirmed paying full salaries to their head coach and his backroom, with the exception of two months, which are still being processed.
Wydad Casablanca are not taking the allegations lightly, summoning Mokwena’s agent, Steve Kapelushnikk in an attempt to investigate the leaks and identify the root cause of the rumours surrounding salaries in the media.
It appears Wydad Casablanca are deeply hurt with news of salary arrears, as the team gear up of for the Casablanca derby this weekend.
Meanwhile, the club has confirmed an agreement with Mokwena to be in charge of the team until the end of the campaign.
Mokwena has stated his dedication to the team’s objectives and will continue to concentrate on finishing second in the league, which would guarantee a spot in the upcoming CAF Champions League.
Wydad’s supporters are relieved that Mokwena will remain in the dugout, as it allows them to focus on the rest of the season without being sidetracked by off-field dramas.
