French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon have offered full support to Ghana international Ernest Nuamah following a horrific injury at the weekend.
Nuamah was forced off with an injury after just seven minutes into their game against Lille on Saturday. The former Nordjaelland star sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his left knee following a ground duel with Lille defender Gabriel Gudmundsson.
The Black Stars winger is expected to spend a lengthy time on the sideline due to the unfortunate injury setback. Nuamah’s season is over and is set to miss the first months of the 2025/26 campaign.
In a statement, the club offered full support to the talented Ghana international, promising to do everything possible to ensure his return to fitness.
“OL gives its full support to Ernest and will do everything possible to enable him to return in the best possible conditions” wrote the club.
The 21-year-old will not be in action when the side play host to Manchester United on Thursday in the Europa League quarter-finals.
The injury is a huge blow not only to Lyon’s campaign but also to Ghana’s national team, which values Nuamah’s pace, creativity, and work ethic.
