Senegal enjoyed a winning start to the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament on Tuesday afternoon with a narrow 1-0 victory against Gambia.
The Group C encounter between the two youth national teams was played at the Stade Ben Ahmed El Abdi in El Jadida.
The only goal of the match was a solitary strike from Ibrahima Sow. The teenager showed impressive quality in the 7th minute, scoring from a direct free-kick with a stunning strike.
Although Gambia put up a fight after going behind, Senegal held on throughout the game to secure all three points.

After the narrow win against Gambia, Senegal leads the Group C standings with three points.
Tunisia will play against Somalia in the next Group C match of the competition.
The Young Teranga Lions will now prepare for their next group game against Tunisia on Friday.
