According to the Daily Mirror, Vincent Kompany, the captain of Manchester City, is reportedly on FC Barcelona’s shortlist. Barcelona is looking to strengthen its defensive lineup, which has faced challenges in recent matches against Real Madrid and AC Milan. The Catalan club has expressed interest in Kompany, and discussions have taken place with Manchester City’s sporting director, Txiki Begiristain.
Kompany, a Belgian defender, is currently under a six-year contract with Manchester City. Barcelona is rumored to be considering a bid of around €20 million to secure Kompany’s services. The defender played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s Premier League victory last season and also contributed to the team winning the FA Cup in 2012.
In addition to his success in the English league, Kompany previously won the Belgian Football Championship with Anderlecht in 2004 and 2006.
