The Egyptian Football Association’s Referees Committee, led by Colombian Oscar Ruiz, has tapped Honduran Hector Martinez to officiate the Egypt Cup semi-final showdown between Zamalek and Ceramica Cleopatra, set for tomorrow, Friday, at Cairo Stadium.
The decision follows a request from Ceramica Cleopatra for an international referee to oversee the high-stakes match.
Martinez will have a seasoned crew by his side, including assistants Walter Lopez and Christian Ramirez, with Sylvain Brown serving as the video assistant referee and Costa Rican Benjamin Pinada lending support. Egyptian Mahmoud Nagy rounds out the team as the fourth official.
In the same round, Mahmoud Bassiouni will take charge of the Al-Ahly Bank versus Pyramids FC clash, supported by assistants Samir Gamal and Sami Helal, and fourth official Khaled El-Ghandour. Abdel Aziz El-Sayed will handle video assistant duties, joined by Ahmed Hossam Taha as the assistant video official.
Martinez brings prior experience in Egypt, having refereed the national team’s 2021 Arab Cup quarterfinal against Jordan.
