Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez is undoubtedly confident his outfit will overcome Mozambique in the sixth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifier.
The North African giants play host to Mozambique on Tuesday afternoon as the battle for World Cup berth unfolds.
Algeria currently sit top of Group D on goal difference after triumphing over Botswana in the fifth round of the qualifiers last Friday.
Tied on points after five games, both teams will be yearning for maximum points to better their chances of securing World Cup berth.
And according to Mahrez, the Desert Foxes will triumphed over Mozambique to boost their qualification chances.
“The match against Mozambique is very important for us. It is one of the five matches we will play at home in the World Cup qualifiers, and we are ready to overcome it successfully.”
“The match will be played in a wonderful stadium, in front of our fans, who I hope will strongly support us and stand behind the team so that we can successfully overcome the challenge.”
“We dropped points in a home match, but we knew how to recover. Now we’re on the right track as we’re at the top of the group, and we’ll do everything we can to get the three points and take the lead.”
“We are extremely excited to play in front of our fans. The squad is fully prepared to overcome this difficult phase, and we will live up to the expectations of the Algerian people”
Algeria is seeking to qualify for the World Cup for the fifth time in their history and it’s first since the 2014 edition in Brazil, where Germany emerged as champions.
