2026 World Cup qualifiers: Zimbabwe head coach Michael Nees issues warning to players ahead of Nigeria clash
The head coach of Zimbabwe, Michael Nees, has cautioned his players ahead of their encounter against Nigeria in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Zimbabwe will play away to Nigeria on Tuesday, March 25, in Round 6 of the qualifiers for next year’s mundial.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of his team’s training on Sunday, coach Michael Nees said it is important for his team to expect a tough clash against the Nigerians.
The coach further assured fans that his players understand the assignment and will fight for a positive result.
“So they would come now with confidence and with all their power because they want to turn this campaign around but so do we. It will be an exciting game, we have to perform to our maximum for sure, we can expect a really tough opponent giving everything but we will also give everything,” coach Michael Nees said.
The match between Nigeria and Zimbabwe is scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Tuesday.
A win for Zimbabwe will be the first for the side in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. For Nigeria, victory is necessary to stay in contention for qualification.
