Coach Milutin Sredojević of the Libyan national team held a press conference on Tuesday, outlining the details of the team’s preparatory camp and the plan established in collaboration with the Football Federation.
During the international break, he disclosed the identities of the teams that Libya will face in friendly matches.
The Serbian coach, commonly known as “Micho,” emphasized the necessity of sustaining the team’s efforts and maintaining the positive results to confirm the exemplary performance of the “Knights of the Mediterranean” in recent times.
Micho revealed that the Libyan national team would play three friendly matches during an external training camp hosted by two countries.
The camp is set to commence on December 30, which marks the final date for player gathering.
The team is scheduled to face Indonesia in two matches to be held in Turkey, and also compete against the Kuwaiti national team in a match hosted by Egypt.
Indonesia currently holds the 146th position in the FIFA rankings, while the Kuwaiti national team is ranked 136th globally.
These two tests are crucial and could propel Libya to climb the FIFA rankings if victories are secured in all three matches.
On another note, the Serbian coach reiterated his commitment to working with the Libyan national team on all fronts, emphasizing his dedication to giving opportunities to those who deserve them.
Micho pointed out that he closely follows the local league matches, explaining the composition of his squad, which predominantly includes local players.
The coach is confident in the ability of his players to shine and create surprises in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after a promising start.
He aims to make the most of every international break by organizing as many matches as possible, with the goal of fostering sufficient cohesion among the players to form a team that plays with a unified spirit.
It’s worth mentioning that the Libyan national team won their first away match in the World Cup qualifiers against Eswatini with a 1-0 scoreline. They showcased their talent in the second match, holding the Cameroonian national team to a 1-1 draw.
These results position Libya in second place, tied with the “Indomitable Lions” and Cape Verde in Group F.
