Achraf Bencharki’s future at Al Ahly remains unshaken despite league controversy
A source within Al Ahly has dismissed claims that Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki requested to terminate his contract or inquired about the club’s stance on continuing in the Egyptian Premier League.
Recent reports suggested Bencharki sought clarity on the league’s future following Al Ahly’s withdrawal from the summit match. However, the source, speaking exclusively to Kooora, refuted these claims.
“Achraf Bencharki is a player in the team, and he has nothing to do with the club’s management policies,” the source stated.
He further clarified, “The decision to continue or withdraw from the league is for the administration alone, not any player or even the coach.”
Bencharki joined Al Ahly to compete in all tournaments, and according to the source, the controversy surrounding the league’s completion due to the absence of foreign referees does not involve him.
“Bencharki never asked to leave or inquired about anything related to this issue,” the source emphasized.
Al Ahly had refused to play their scheduled match against Zamalek, citing concerns over the absence of foreign referees.
