“He is the victim of a sprain, it doesn’t seem very serious but he might have to stop for a few days,” commented Rudi Garcia, the coach of Lille, regarding Aurélien Chedjou’s knee injury sustained during last Sunday’s victory against Bordeaux (2-1).
As per the coach’s statement, the Lille defender is considered “uncertain” for the upcoming match against Valenciennes this weekend. Unfortunately, Chedjou won’t be available for the northern derby on Saturday, a crucial fixture for the 28th day of Ligue 1.
In addition to Chedjou, Rio Mavuba and Ryan Mendes are also unavailable due to injuries, further challenging Lille’s defensive options. David Rozenhal is expected to fill in for Chedjou in the central defense.
The Lille group for the upcoming match includes Elana, Mouko, Basa, Béria, Bonnart, Digne, Rozehnal, Sidibé, Balmont, Gueye, Martin, Pedretti, Bruno, De Melo, Kalou, Payet, Rodelin, and Roux. The absence of key players due to injuries presents a challenge for Lille in their pursuit of a positive result in the upcoming fixture.
