France-born Cameroonian forward Hugo Ekitike has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League duo, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
The 22-year-old has become a transfer target for several top clubs in Europe due to his outstanding performance for Frankfurt this season.
Ekitike has rediscovered his form at Frankfurt following a difficult spell with Paris Saint Germain. He joined the Bundesliga club, initially on loan before making the move permanent last summer for just over €16m.
In his first full season, the French-Cameroonian striker has excelled, scoring 18 goals in 36 appearances across competitions.
However, Frankfurt are said to be ready to cash in on the enterprising Cameroonian forward, who have garnered interest from clubs.
Meanwhile, Ekitike will not leave on the cheap with the Bundesliga side setting a hefty asking price of €80m.
However, according to reports, Newcastle United have reached out to Ekitiké’s entourage to enquire about the forward. The club would be willing to meet Frankfurt’s asking price in the event of the sale of Alexander Isak.
Arsenal are also interested in Ekitiké but are yet to make any concrete approach, unlike Newcastle.
However, Andrea Berta’s impending arrival as sporting director could change matters and the Gunners could then begin making progress on their summer targets.
