Senegal midfielder Habib Diarra sidelined for three weeks, set to miss Sudan and Togo games

Senegal has been dealt with a massive blow ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers following Habib Diarra’s injury.

The enterprising is set to be sidelined for three weeks after picking up an ankle injury in Strasbourg’s clash against AJ Auxerre, making him unavailable for upcoming matches against Sudan and Togo this month.

Habib Diarra is expected to return to action for Strasbourg after the March international break. The club hopes he returns for their crucial game against giants Olympique Lyon on March 28. 2025.

His absence for the international break comes as a huge blow for the Senegalese national team as they seeks to secure crucial wins to revive their chances of qualifying for the biggest soccer mundial.

Diarra, 21, has made four appearances for the Senegal national team since making his debut in March 2024.

Senegal will travel to face the Falcons of Jediane of Sudan on March 22 before hosting Togo on March 25 in the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifiers in Group B.

Meanwhile, Sudan, who sit top of Group B are currently in the Saudi Arabia preparing for the upcoming games.

Senegal are second on the table with 8 points, two points adrift of log leaders, Sudan.
