Congolese midfielder Glody Likonza remains optimistic about his team’s chances in the championship, insisting that the title race is far from over.

Speaking after a crucial victory over ESM, the Rouge et Noir playmaker emphasized the importance of staying focused and determined as the season progresses.

“A crucial win to keep the momentum going”

Reflecting on his team’s latest triumph, Likonza highlighted the significance of bouncing back after a disappointing defeat in El-Bayadh. “It was an important victory.

We had to react after the loss, and I think we did that well,” he said. “Yes, we struggled to score more than one goal, but the most important thing was securing the three points. Overall, we were the better side on the pitch and fully deserved the win.”

The victory keeps his team firmly in the race for the title, maintaining their position on the podium.

For Likonza, staying among the top contenders is a source of motivation.

It’s a great feeling to hold our place in the standings.

Our goal is clear—we want to finish as high as possible.

There’s still a significant points gap between us and the leaders, but nothing is decided yet.

There are many points still up for grabs, and we will fight for every single one.

Belief in the title chase

Despite being eight points behind the league leaders, Likonza is confident that the title is not out of reach.

Nothing is lost. There are still plenty of matches to play, and anything can happen in football,” he asserted. “It’s too early to start making calculations. We just need to stay focused and keep winning to maintain our momentum.”

Looking ahead: A tough road but no room for doubt

Acknowledging the challenges ahead, the midfielder stressed the importance of hard work and consistency.

The road ahead will be difficult, especially as every point matters at this stage of the season.

The competition is fierce, and no team will hand us any favors,” he admitted. “But we have strengths that we can rely on.

It’s up to us to improve, correct our mistakes, and live up to the expectations placed on us.

Likonza also underlined the need for a strong mentality, not just in the league but in all competitions the team is competing in.

We have to work even harder and stay committed. Whether it’s in the league or other tournaments, we need to give everything we have and never give up.

With this determined mindset, Likonza and his teammates remain hopeful that they can still mount a serious challenge for the title as the season enters a crucial phase.
