Al Ahly prepared to cover foreign referees cost with Zamalek
Al Ahly is closely monitoring the officiating situation ahead of their crucial league clash with Zamalek on Tuesday night.
The club has been in contact with the Football Association to determine whether Zamalek, as the host team, has requested foreign referees for the match.
Club treasurer and vice president Khaled Murtaji has been leading discussions with the Football Association, seeking clarity on the referee selection process.
A source told Kooora that Al Ahly is awaiting Zamalek’s stance on the matter.
“Zamalek is the owner of the match and has not reached out to us to discuss sharing the expense of foreign referees if they wish to bring them in,” the source revealed.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly will resume training on Saturday evening as they prepare for the highly anticipated showdown. The squad is returning from a short break granted by head coach Marcel Koller following their recent fixtures.
With both clubs aiming for a strong start in the decisive round of the league championship, all eyes are on Zamalek’s next move regarding the referee decision.
