Suhail Al-Arifi, the Director of Events at the Abu Dhabi Council, has affirmed that the Football Association did not officially notify them of Al Ahly’s request to postpone the match against Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian Super Cup, citing the Red Devils’ fatigue after participating in the Club World Cup.
In statements made on the Egyptian channel “Al Oula” during the program “Number 10,” Al-Arifi stated, “Al Ahly has requested from the Egyptian Football Association to postpone the match against Ceramica Cleopatra for 24 hours, based on the information we have received.”
“This is an internal matter concerning the Egyptian Football Association, and they are the ones dealing with Al Ahly.
The choice of schedules comes through official football associations,” he added.
“We have not received any official request from the Football Association to postpone the match, but there was a conversation with our brothers in the Football Association after they decided to inform us.
We said we would study the situation and respond, but there is no official request,” he continued.
Al-Arifi emphasized, “The tournament now has greater returns and benefits in its current edition with the participation of four clubs instead of two.
The audiences in the UAE have become acquainted with new Egyptian clubs such as Ceramica Cleopatra and Modern Future.”
He added, “The tournament has become more competitive and exciting from a football perspective than hosting the tournament between only two teams in a single match.”
In conclusion, Al-Arifi mentioned, “There are many surprises in the final match between Al Ahly and Future.
One of the highlights is a performance by the artist Mohamed Hamaki.
We hope the Super Cup final witnesses a great match between the two teams befitting the reputation of Egyptian football.”
