DR Congo international Dylan Batubinsika was reportedly assaulted by a supporter during a French Ligue clash between Saint Etienne and OGC Nice.
Batubinsika started and lasted for 71 minutes as his outfit succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old DR Congo international was physically assaulted following his side’s defeat in the top-flight last Saturday.
Saint Etienne, who gained promotion to the French Ligue 1 before the start of the season is unlikely to maintain their status after a string of poor results.
However, an aggrieved fan of the club stormed the car park and attacked the DR Congo international following their defeat.
The fans initially approached the DR Congo international for an autograph before punching him in the face after he lowered the glass of his car to respond to the supporter.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old has not yet filed a legal complaint to the authorities. The player was not injured and on Monday evening, the identity of the assailant, who was reported to be under the influence, had still not been determined despite the presence of CCTV cameras.
Saint Etienne currently sit second-bottom in Ligue 1 with 19 points ahead of two do-or-die fixtures against Le Havre next Sunday, and Montpellier the following weekend.
The DR Congo international has made 24 appearances across competitions for the French outfit.
