Uganda’s Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo has received official approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host major continental football competitions.
The certification follows extensive renovations and investments that have upgraded the stadium to meet CAF’s stringent international standards, positioning it as a key venue for African football events.
Hamz Stadium is now authorised to host qualifying and final matches of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the men’s AFCON tournaments in the U17, U20, and U23 categories.
Additionally, the facility is eligible to stage preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
CAF’s approval highlights Uganda’s commitment to enhancing its sports infrastructure and its growing presence on the African football stage.
The development marks a significant milestone for Ugandan football, opening new opportunities for the country to host high-profile tournaments and foster the sport’s growth.
