Manchester United legend Andy Cole has expressed admiration for 17-year-old striker Chido Obi-Martin, highlighting the young forward’s potential and fearlessness on the pitch.

Obi-Martin, who has Nigerian heritage, has been making waves since his senior team breakthrough.

Speaking on the “Rio Ferdinand Presents” podcast, Cole shared his observations about Obi-Martin’s raw talent and fearlessness.

He noted that at 17, players often play without fear, and Obi-Martin exemplifies this trait.

Cole mentioned watching him play recently and affirmed that the young striker “definitely got a chance.”

He also referenced insights from his nephew, who has worked with Obi-Martin and echoed similar sentiments about his potential.

“When you’re raw and you’re 17, you have no fear. I looked at him yesterday… He’s definitely got a chance.

“My nephew worked with him and my nephew said: ‘Yeah man, he’s got a chance’.”

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand also praised Obi-Martin’s instincts and positioning.

Ferdinand observed that while the young striker might not always be heavily involved in the game, he has a knack for being in the right place at the right time, ready to capitalize on opportunities.

“He’s still rough around the edges and he should be. But what I don’t have any fear about is that he will get chances.

“Because I watched him play against my two boys and the way he played yesterday was exactly the same. He’s not in the game but the ball falls and he’s there.”
