Young Barcelona forward with Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean heritage, Lamine Yamal, has been advised by football legend Francesco Totti to increase his goal-scoring contributions.
Despite being a key player for Barça, Yamal has not found the net in LaLiga since October 26, 2024, during the first Clásico of the season against Real Madrid.
Totti, speaking on Viva en Futbol, acknowledged Yamal’s talent but emphasized the need for more goals. “He still scores few goals.
“He is very strong, he flew in the Euro Cup … He seemed to be flying, then it went down a bit, it’s fine, but he still scores few goals.”
Since his last league goal, Yamal has played nine consecutive LaLiga matches without scoring, though he has provided four assists during this period.
In total, he has netted five goals in 20 LaLiga appearances this season.
However, Yamal’s scoring form has been better in other competitions. He has added six goals across the UEFA Champions League, Supercopa de España, and Copa del Rey, bringing his season tally to 11 goals.
Despite the league goal drought, Yamal continues to be a vital part of Barcelona’s attacking lineup, contributing significantly through assists and overall playmaking.
His ability to create opportunities remains a valuable asset for the team as they compete on multiple fronts this season.
As Barcelona enters a crucial phase of the season, the club and its supporters hope Yamal will rediscover his scoring touch in LaLiga to complement his contributions in other tournaments.
