Oakland Roots SC have announced the signing of Ugandan international Bobosi Byaruhanga ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season.
The 23-year-old midfielder makes the switch from Austin FC II, where he played a pivotal role in helping the team clinch the MLS Next Pro title in 2023.
Exciting Addition
“Bobosi is a young player that we are very happy to welcome to help us consolidate our midfield,” said Oakland Roots head coach Gavin Glinton.
Byaruhanga’s arrival is seen as a key reinforcement for the American second-division side as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.
Proven Talent
Byaruhanga began his professional career in the Ugandan Premier League with Vipers SC, where he won the league title in 2022.
His performances earned him several call-ups to the Ugandan national team, further underlining his credentials on the international stage.
Glinton praised the midfielder’s pedigree, saying: “Having international experience and winning multiple championships at such a young age has given him an incredible foundation to become a key player in our team this season.”
Byaruhanga’s move marks an important step in his career as he looks to make his mark in American football.
