Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim stays calm amid Patrick Dorgu’s suspension
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed unwavering support for young defender Patrick Dorgu following his challenging home Premier League debut against Ipswich Town.
Despite Dorgu’s first-half red card, Amorim emphasized the player’s importance to the team and downplayed the incident’s significance.
Dorgu, a January signing from Lecce, experienced a turbulent start at Old Trafford. A miscommunication with goalkeeper Andre Onana led to an early goal for Ipswich’s Jaden Philogene. Shortly before halftime, Dorgu received a red card after a VAR review for a dangerous tackle on Omari Hutchinson, leaving United with ten men. Despite these setbacks, United secured a 3-2 victory, with Harry Maguire’s decisive header early in the second half.
Reflecting on the match, Amorim stated, “It is like business as usual. Of course, you don’t want him sent-off because it is hard to play with ten men and we lose him for three games.”
He continued, “Everything at United is a big issue. I don’t need to say anything to him. He is frustrated and sad, but he is working towards the next games. He is going to be a very important player for us.”
