Abidjan-born Marc Guéhi’s injury during Aston Villa game not serious – Crystal Palace manager

Marc Guehi

Crystal Palace’s central defender, Marc Guéhi, is under medical observation following a knee injury sustained during their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Despite receiving on-field treatment, the 24-year-old completed the full match.

Speaking after the game, Glasner said, “He felt a little bit of pain. Fingers crossed, it is nothing serious.

“He felt pain in his knee. He can rest now for two days, but should be ready for Friday and for the Millwall game.”

Guéhi, born in Cote d’Ivoire before moving to England, has been a cornerstone in Palace’s defense, playing every minute in all but one Premier League match this season.

His consistent performances have not only solidified the team’s backline but have also caught the attention of England’s national team manager, Thomas Tuchel, who was present at Selhurst Park during the Villa match.

With World Cup qualifiers approaching, Guéhi is keen to showcase his readiness for international duty.

Born in Abidjan, Guéhi moved to London at a young age and progressed through Chelsea’s youth system before transferring to Crystal Palace in 2021.

As the team prepares for the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Millwall, Glasner faces a decision: risk playing Guéhi and potentially aggravate the injury or rest him to ensure long-term fitness.
