Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has addressed concerns regarding the limited playing time of Turkish midfielder Arda Güler.
The Italian manager emphasized the necessity for young talents to exercise patience as they integrate into the first team.
Ancelotti drew parallels to the developmental trajectories of players like Brazilian-Cameroonian Vinícius Júnior, who underwent a gradual integration process before becoming a key figure in the squad.
In a press conference preceding the Copa del Rey semifinal against Real Sociedad, Ancelotti dismissed the notion of a “Güler case,” stating that such a situation doesn’t exist within the club.
He elaborated that Güler’s current phase is part of a standard progression for young players transitioning into one of the world’s most competitive teams.
This developmental approach mirrors the experiences of other talents, including Vinícius Júnior, who hails from São Gonçalo, Brazil.
Vinícius Júnior’s journey at Real Madrid exemplifies the club’s strategy of nurturing young prospects.
Upon his arrival, he faced limited playing opportunities, prompting discussions about his readiness for top-tier football.
However, through persistent effort and adaptation, Vinícius has evolved into a pivotal player for the team. Ancelotti highlighted this progression, noting that such a path is common among emerging talents at the club.
Ancelotti also addressed the external pressures surrounding young players, emphasizing the importance of a supportive environment.
He acknowledged that while he observes Güler’s dedication and eagerness during training sessions, the influence of individuals outside the immediate team environment can impact a player’s mindset.
“Anyone who has doubts can come to my office. I read that there is a Güler case, but that case does not exist here. It is part of a process, for him and for all the young players.
“It happened with Rodrygo, Vinicius, Valverde… He needs time to play in the best team in the world. Everyone understands that; those who do not understand that, must do so. I do not want to see a player happy when he is not playing, I see a player who works, learns and wants to play.
“That is what I see in the small part of the time I spend with him. But he spends a lot of time with other people and I do not know if they have the same idea as me. I make sure that he can improve and play for Real Madrid.”
