The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has spotlighted Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, recommending football enthusiasts keep a keen eye on his performance during the tournament in Ivory Coast.
In a detailed report on the official CAF website, the organization emphasized Egypt’s rich history in AFCON, noting that the team is set to participate for the 26th time, making them the most frequent contenders in the tournament.
Egypt boasts an impressive record with seven AFCON titles, holding the record for both the most victories and the most times hosting the championship, with five occasions, the latest being in 2019.
The report highlighted Egypt’s aspirations to reclaim continental glory, aiming to return to the podium, which has eluded them since their last triumph in 2010 in Angola.
The Egyptian team, runners-up in the 2021 edition, is positioned in Group 2 alongside Mozambique, Ghana, and Cape Verde.
In selecting a player worth watching, CAF spotlighted Omar Marmoush, the 24-year-old Egyptian forward currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga.
