Jose Mourinho, stole the limelight at the press conference of his compatriot, Ricardo Formosinho, the head coach of Modern Future, following their qualification for the Egyptian Super Cup final on Monday.
Mourinho interrupted the press briefing to extend his congratulations to Formosinho for securing a spot in the Egyptian Super Cup final, overcoming Pyramids in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regular time.
Formosinho, who previously served as an assistant to Mourinho at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, before managing Sudan’s Al Hilal and Morocco’s Olympique Khouribga, took charge of Modern Future at the beginning of the current season.
In a tightly contested match, Modern Future emerged victorious with a 14-13 penalty shootout win, with Formosinho praising goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdel Rahim “Gennesh” for his outstanding saves both during the game and in the penalty shootout.
“We delivered a tremendous performance with high spirits extend separate thanks to the goalkeeper Gennesh, who proved to be one of the stars of the match with his exceptional saves,” Formosinho remarked during the post-match press conference.
Acknowledging Mourinho’s well-wishing interruption, Formosinho expressed, “Mourinho is a dear friend and he congratulated me on reaching the Super Cup final. We maintain constant communication.”
Looking ahead, he added, “I aim to prepare the players uniquely for the final after this challenging match against Pyramids.”
Modern Future will face the winner of the other semifinal between Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra in the much-anticipated Egyptian Super Cup final. Notably, this edition marks the inaugural staging of the Egyptian Super Cup with the participation of four teams.
