
As the Africa Cup of Nations is fast approaching, the head coach of the Gambian national team Tom Saintfiet has given a brief update about his team’s preparations ahead of the tournament in Cote
Saintfiet, in an exclusive interview with AfricaSoccer.com, revealed the Scorpions’ itinerary towards next month’s tournament.
The Belgian trainer hinted about Gambia’s intended camping in Saudi Arabia and the pre-tournament friendly match against Morocco before departing for Cote d’Ivoire.
While speaking about the team’s camping process, he revealed:
“We are waiting for news from the federation. We are going to Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the Saudi federation, but I don’t know which location yet,” Saintfiet told AfricaSoccer.com exclusively
“We will fly to Morocco to play against them on January 7, and on the same night, we travel to Gambia to meet the head of state, and on January 10, we fly to Yamoussoukro for the tournament.”
The Scorpions are making a second successive appearance in Africa’s biggest football showpiece after their debut in the last edition in Cameroon, where they reached the quarter-finals.
Saintfiet and his lads face a stern test this time around after being grouped along with defending champions Senegal, Cameroon, and Guinea.
