Three years after leaving for Qatar, Algerian defender Nadir Belhadj might make a comeback to Europe. Clubs such as Fiorentina, Lazio, and West Ham are reportedly interested in the former Olympique de Lyon player. BloGolo, a Portuguese site, suggests that the 30-year-old left-back, whose contract with Qatari club Al-Sadd expires at the end of the season, is leaning towards joining Benfica in Lisbon. Belhadj seems to have ruled out the idea of returning to the national team despite rumors of a possible recall of certain former players to the Algerian selection. In an interview, he expressed his admiration for Portugal, calling it a football country, and expressed interest in playing in the Portuguese Liga.
