FIFA President Joseph Blatter expressed his gratitude to Guinean authorities for the warm hospitality extended to his official delegation during a 48-hour friendship visit on February 7 and 8 in Conakry. In a letter, Blatter thanked Salifou Camara, President of the Guinean Football Federation (FGF), and Issa Hayatou, President of the African Football Federation (CAF).
Blatter highlighted memorable moments during the visit, including meetings with Prime Minister Dr. Mohamed Saïd Fofana, the inauguration of the Technical Center, and a dinner hosted by President Alpha Condé. He expressed pride in receiving the distinction of Grand Officer of the National Order of Merit of the Republic of Guinea from President Condé, stating that the honor reflects the values FIFA defends, including humanity, solidarity, spirit, discipline, and respect. The visit also marked the inauguration of the Nongo training center, now named after Blatter.
