Yacine Brahimi, the Franco-Algerian midfielder who plays for Granada, expressed his desire in early February to represent Algeria in international football. The president of the Algerian football federation, Mohamed Raouraoua, announced that Brahimi’s qualification file has been submitted to FIFA, indicating his intent to play for Algeria.
Raouraoua mentioned in a statement, “Yacine Brahimi wanted to play for Algeria. His file was sent today (Thursday) to FIFA to allow him to defend the colors of Algeria.”
Brahimi, who is currently on loan to Granada, has made it clear that he no longer wishes to join Stade Rennais. Despite having one year left on his contract with Rennes, Brahimi stated, “Personally, I don’t want to return to Rennes, even if events may force me to return there. For the moment, I’m mainly trying to concentrate on the field. My representatives take care of extra-football.”
