FIFA has confirmed the use of goal-line video technology (GLT) in case of disputes at the 2014 World Cup. The decision aims to assist match officials in their work. An independent institute will evaluate the functioning of the GLT, and referees will test it before each match. FIFA has initiated a call for tenders, inviting licensed GLT system manufacturers to submit offers. The interested companies will participate in an inspection visit to the Confederations Cup venues in mid-March, with a final decision expected in early April.
