It appears that the Algerian national football team, known as the Fennecs, is gearing up for a crucial match against Benin in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Despite being prematurely eliminated from the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), the team is focused on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The team, led by coach Halilhodzic, is scheduled to have a training camp at the national technical center of Sidi Moussa in Algiers from March 20. The specific date of the match against Benin has not been officially announced by the federation, but according to the Algérie Presse Service (APS), it is expected to take place between March 22 and 24 at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium in Blida.
Algeria currently holds the third position in its qualifying group, with Benin leading. After facing Benin, the team will have upcoming matches against Porto-Novo and Kigali in June, followed by hosting the Lions of Mali in September. The team had a mixed start to the qualifiers, winning against Rwanda (4-0) but suffering a defeat to Mali (2-1), with the latter match relocated to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The upcoming matches will be crucial for Algeria’s chances of advancing in the World Cup qualification process.
