Marseille, December 23, 2023 — Olympique de Marseille (OM) has officially announced the extension of the contract for promising attacker François-Régis Mughe, a Cameroonian talent who has been part of the Marseille training center since June 2022.
The club revealed the one-season extension, binding Mughe to the Marseille side until 2028, signaling the management’s confidence in his potential.
As key players Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaïla Sarr prepare to join their national teams, the extension for the 19-year-old winger suggests that OM sees a pivotal role for Mughe in the squad.
Having participated in nine professional matches with the Marseille team, Mughe has showcased notable qualities, especially his speed, during his limited appearances on the field. Notably, he secured his first goal for OM during the Coupe de France fixture against Annecy in the previous season.
While Marcelino, the OM coach, has consistently included Mughe in the lineup, the young talent has faced challenges in securing regular playing time in recent months.
In the last 16 games, Mughe was on the field for a total of 14 minutes, reflecting the competition within the squad.
Despite limited recent appearances, the extension of Mughe’s contract underscores Marseille’s commitment to nurturing emerging talents.
The move is strategic, aligning with OM’s broader vision for the future and emphasizing the importance of continuity in developing promising players within the club.
As OM continues to navigate domestic and international competitions, François-Régis Mughe’s extended contract highlights the club’s investment in fostering a new generation of football talent.
