Emmanuel Adebayor, like all of Togo, is ecstatic. The Sparrowhawks have qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAN for the first time in their history after their draw against Tunisia. Adebayor expresses his immense joy and pride in an interview with AFP:
“It’s historic! A place awaited us in history. There were great players who put us last in the group, and today we showed the opposite. Even though we have a very defensive team that plays well in defense, we defend and attack together, I can only be satisfied this evening. This marks the first qualification for the second round of the CAN. I’m very happy for the players and my country; I can’t even imagine what’s happening there at the moment, it must be very strong, especially since there are always people in front of my house. Maybe the referee didn’t see the penalties for us and blew the whistle for the Tunisians. Of course, there was a penalty on me. But now we are qualified, and Tunisia is eliminated.”
