Congolese defender Brian Bayeye has completed a loan move to Serbian club Radnički Niš from Torino, seeking regular playing time after a challenging spell in Italy.

The 24-year-old right-back will remain with the Serbian SuperLiga side until the end of the season.

A fresh start in Serbia

Bayeye, who featured for DR Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and played in the third-place match against South Africa, had been struggling for minutes at Torino.

After returning from a loan spell at Ascoli in Serie B last season, he found himself sidelined and was not included in Torino’s matchday squads.

Despite interest from clubs in France and Portugal, Bayeye ultimately opted for Radnički Niš, currently tenth in the Serbian top flight.

The move provides him with an opportunity to revive his career and increase his chances of earning another call-up to the national team.

From Troyes to Torino – A career seeking stability

Bayeye began his professional journey at Troyes before moving to Torino in 2022.

However, his time in Serie A has been challenging, with limited appearances and a lack of opportunities to establish himself in the first team.

His loan spell at Ascoli offered him valuable experience, but upon his return, he found himself out of Torino’s plans.

Speaking to Afrik-Foot before securing his move, Bayeye expressed his frustration over his situation, citing his desire for regular football and a fresh challenge.

Eyes on a national team return

With the loan to Radnički Niš, Bayeye is determined to gain consistent playing time and prove his worth on the pitch.

A strong performance in Serbia could pave the way for a return to the DR Congo squad as the team prepares for future international competitions.

For now, his focus will be on making an impact at his new club and reigniting his career in a new league.
