Experienced goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi has reiterated his desire to return to the Algerian national team after several year absence.
The 40-year-old shot stopper, who has not featured for ‘The Fennecs’ since 2018 is currently in the books of Algerian lower-tier club El Harrach, making a couple of appearances across competitions.
Faouzi Chaouchi has been performing well in the Algerian second-tier league since joining the club in 2024. However, he has set sights on returning to the national team.
The veteran goalkeeper had a ten-year spell with the national side, featuring from 2008 to 2018. He was instrumental when Algeria secured qualification to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, held in South Africa.
The experienced goalkeeper made 15 appearances for Algeria during his prime.
In 2013, Faouzi Chaouchi was handed a two-year suspension from football and had to terminate his contract with MC Alger. He also faced a six-month prison sentence for indiscipline. However, the goalkeeper return to play active football in 2015.
Faouzi Chaouchi almost spent his playing career in Algeria, featuring for JS Bordj Menaïel, JS Kabylie, ES Setif, MC Alger, CR Belouizdad and others.
Having reiterated desire to play for the national team again, it is unknown when the experienced goalkeeper will call it a quit.
