Al Ahly SC made it two wins in a row, defeating a resilient Petrojet 2-1 in Matchday 12 of the Nile Egyptian League.
The victory boosts Al Ahly to the top of the standings with 26 points, two ahead of Pyramids.
Emam Ashour put the Red Devils in front with a powerful strike from outside the box in the 15th minute, while Nejc Gradisar doubled their advantage in the 67th minute, finishing off a precise cross from Mohamed Abdallah. Despite Ahmed Farouk’s late header for Petrojet in the 95th minute, Al Ahly held firm to secure the win.
Ashour’s goal tally now stands at 7 for the season, making him the league’s top scorer, while Gradisar has made an immediate impact with three goals in as many games since his January arrival.
Al Ahly’s victory is part of their ongoing revival, as they remain in fine form, now just ahead of their closest rivals.
