Gary Lineker shares Mohamed Salah’s humorous take on his future amid contract uncertainty

Salah Lineker

Sports broadcaster Gary Lineker has recounted a light-hearted exchange with Mohamed Salah, highlighting the Egyptian forward’s “cheeky sense of humour” during a recent conversation.

This amusing interaction comes as Salah’s contract negotiations with Liverpool remain unresolved, leaving the 32-year-old just under four months away from potentially becoming a free agent.

Despite his visibility in recent press conferences, Salah has provided no substantial updates regarding his contract talks.

However, he did take the opportunity to joke about his future while speaking with Lineker after a Match of the Day interview with Arne Slot at Anfield.

Lineker shared his experience on the ‘The Rest Is Football‘ podcast, describing their brief yet enjoyable chat.

When Alan Shearer pressed Lineker about whether he learned anything regarding Salah’s contract status, Lineker replied, “I didn’t, no.”

He recounted a playful moment when Salah asked, “So, how old were you when you finished?”

Upon learning Lineker had played until 32 before moving to Japan, Salah quipped, “Oh, you went for the money did you?” to which Lineker humorously responded, “Well, yeah, I suppose so.”

Lineker emphasized that Salah’s comments were intended as a joke, showcasing his playful nature during a time of uncertainty about his future at Liverpool.
