Malian international Lassine Soumaoro has completed a move to Marignane-Gignac-Côte Bleue FC, signing a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The central defender departs ESTAC Troyes B, where he had been competing in France’s National 3, in pursuit of more regular first-team football in the National 2 division.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Soumaoro shared his thoughts on the new challenge.

“I am very happy to have signed for Marignane, where I will play for the rest of the season.

Above all, I will do everything necessary to honor the supporters of this club. In short, I am fully available for the team,” he told Africafoot.

Soumaoro, who arrived at Troyes in 2021 from Africa Football Élite Bamako, never managed to break into the first-team setup.

However, he has been a regular presence in Mali’s youth national teams.

His transfer to Marignane represents an opportunity to get his career back on track.

“I am here to prove myself and to reach a higher level as quickly as possible.

It’s a six-month contract, and during this time, I will give everything. After that, we will assess whether I continue here or move elsewhere.

But what is certain is that I will be more closely followed here,” he added.

Despite receiving offers from clubs in France’s Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, Soumaoro opted for Marignane, believing the move offered him the right challenge at this stage of his career.

“Obviously, we spoke with clubs in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. We can say that I made a good choice.

I will try to establish myself in this squad, which also has plenty of talent.”

Marignane currently sits 22nd in the National 2 standings after 17 matches and has struggled defensively, conceding 22 goals.

Soumaoro’s arrival is expected to bring stability to the backline as the club fights to improve its fortunes in the second half of the season.
