Riyad Mahrez provided his fifth assist of the Saudi Pro League season as Al-Ahli secured victory against Al-Oruba on Thursday night.
The Algerian winger, who has been in increasingly impressive form, played a key role in his side’s latest success in the league’s 18th round of fixtures.
Just days after delivering a goal and an assist against Al-Ettifaq, Mahrez was once again decisive.
In the ninth minute, he stepped up to take a corner, delivering a pinpoint cross that found the head of Ziyad Aljohani, who directed the ball past the Al-Oruba goalkeeper to open the scoring.
The assist was Mahrez’s third in as many matches, bringing his tally to five for the season.
His overall contribution now stands at 10 goal involvements, with five goals to his name as well.
After a relatively slow start following his summer move to Saudi Arabia, the former Manchester City and Leicester City star appears to have regained his confidence and rhythm.
His growing influence in Al-Ahli’s attack has been crucial as the club pushes for a strong finish in the league.
With Mahrez back to his best, Al-Ahli will be hopeful that their star winger continues his fine form as they look to climb higher in the Saudi Pro League standings.
