TSG Hoffenheim midfielder Diadié Samassékou is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a significant thigh muscle injury.
Head coach Christian Ilzer confirmed on Friday that the 29-year-old is expected to be out for an additional six to eight weeks.
Samassékou sustained the injury during the 17th matchday clash against Bayern Munich, with Ilzer identifying the setback as a muscle fiber tear.
“It is a similar injury pattern to Marius Bülter. Therefore, it will be a similar downtime,” Ilzer explained. Bülter had previously missed two months with a comparable muscle tendon injury in his thigh.
Samassékou has been an integral part of Hoffenheim since his arrival in August 2019 on a five-year contract. While he spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Olympiacos and joined Cádiz on loan in early 2024, he has remained a key figure for Hoffenheim this season, making seven Bundesliga appearances before the injury.
Hoffenheim will undoubtedly feel his absence as they navigate the coming weeks without their experienced midfielder.
