Manchester United are now reportedly leading the race to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, with Napoli open to a potential transfer deal involving Alejandro Garnacho.

The Red Devils have been in search of a prolific frontman, either in the January transfer window or during the summer, and Osimhen has long been on their radar.

According to Sky Sports, Garnacho has reached an agreement to join Napoli this winter, and the Italian club may offer United a discounted deal for Osimhen as part of the negotiations.

Italian outlet Il Mattino further reports that Napoli are keen to reduce the financial outlay for Garnacho by lowering Osimhen’s price tag, making a potential transfer more feasible for United.

With the club struggling for form, manager Ruben Amorim will likely be eager to secure a proven goalscorer, and Osimhen’s arrival could provide the much-needed firepower in United’s attack.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will push forward to finalise the deal.

What is clear is that several clubs in Europe as well as wealthy Saudi sides are interested in securing the services of Victor Osimhen.
