CS Sfaxien’s hopes in the 2024-2025 CAF Cup have come to an early end following a disappointing group-stage campaign.
After their fourth consecutive defeat in the competition, the Tunisian side has already been eliminated, but they are set to face CS Constantine this Sunday in what now seems like a formality.
The match, scheduled for 16:00 GMT, will be part of the final round of group-stage fixtures in the CAF Cup.
In a cost-saving decision, the Sfax delegation has opted for a road trip to Constantine, covering the arduous journey of over 700 kilometers.
The team departed today, prepared for a lengthy trip ahead of their meeting with the Algerian side.
Before arriving in Constantine, the delegation will make a stop in Tabarka, where they plan to hold a training session in the late afternoon.
The team will rest overnight in Tabarka before resuming their journey to Constantine on Friday.
This fixture comes at the end of a difficult African campaign for CS Sfaxien.
Their elimination from the CAF Cup was confirmed last Sunday, following a 4-0 loss to Simba SC.
That result left the team with no chance of progressing further in the tournament, a blow to their ambitions this season.
Despite the setback, CS Sfaxien will be hoping to finish their CAF Cup campaign with some pride when they take on CS Constantine.
However, with the pressure of qualification removed, the match now takes on a less competitive tone for the Tunisian side.
As the final round of the group stage approaches, the focus will be on how CS Sfaxien can regroup and take lessons from a challenging campaign, while Constantine looks to assert its position in the competition.
