Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobier has opened up on his relationship with his teammate Mohamed El-Shennawy ahead of their clash with Ivorian Stade d’Abidjan in the CAF Champions League.
The pair have been battling for the number one spot at the club, sparking alleged rift between them.
But Shobier in an interview insists there is no rift between them and has asked the publi9c to treat it with the needed contempt it deserves.
“Why would I get angry with Mohamed El-Shennawy if he participates as a starter? If I feel sad, it will be towards the coach or towards myself if I am negligent, but this does not happen and my relationship with El-Shennawy is good and will not be affected by any rumors.”
“The team is not suffering from a crisis at all, and this tone should not be exported to us. If we achieve victory over Ivorian Stade d’Abidjan the day after tomorrow, Saturday, we will advance to the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, and we are also leading the Egyptian League.”
He continued: “The fans have the right to feel worried if the performance declines at some points, but we hope for the fans’ support and we are waiting for the fans to attend more in the stands to stand by us.”
He pointed out: “Talk about Al-Ahly entering a period of doubt is not true because the team won the league and the African Champions League last season.”
