RB Leipzig has set its sights on Ridle Baku from VfL Wolfsburg as a replacement for the injured Benjamin Henrichs.
According to multiple reports, the versatile 26-year-old winger has emerged as Leipzig’s prime candidate to strengthen their right wing in the current transfer window.
Henrichs’ season-ending Achilles tendon rupture has left a critical gap in Leipzig’s squad, pushing the club to act swiftly. Sources confirm that Baku, a key player for Wolfsburg, tops their shortlist. This season, Baku has been a reliable asset for the Wolves, featuring in all 15 Bundesliga games—starting 14—while contributing two goals and two assists.
Despite his importance to Wolfsburg, Baku’s future at the club remains uncertain. His contract, which runs until 2025, will not be renewed after the player expressed his desire to move on. Wolfsburg, facing the possibility of losing him on a free transfer, may opt to negotiate a deal now to secure a fee for the former German international, who last represented the national team in 2021.
