CHAN 2025 tournament face possible postponement

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to postpone the 2025 Championship for African Nations (CHAN) tournament to be held in Morocco.

Sources close to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation suggests a possible postponement of the CAF prestigious tournament.

The impending decision stem from the delay in preparation of sites licensed for the much-anticipated tournament.

Although the tournament will be held in February of this year 2025, the draw date for the tournament has not been announced yet.

Meanwhile, a number of top African countries will not participate in the upcoming 2025 Championship for African Nations (CHAN) tournament scheduled for next year February.

Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon are among top absentees after failing to secure qualification to the much-anticipated tournament.

The Black Galaxies of Ghana is missing the tournament after falling short to their rivals in the qualifying series. Ghana succumbed to a 3-1 aggregate defeat.

Ivory Coast, on the other side, were eliminated on penalties by Burkina Faso despite their 2-0 lead in the first leg.

Despite winning 1-0 in the first leg, Cameroon fell short to Central Africa Republic in the return leg and will not be present at the tournament.

After winning the first leg 1-0, they were overturned by the Central African Republic, who secured qualification.

Togo, on the other side, were eliminated on penalties by Niger after 1-1 aggregate score in both legs.

Additionally, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, and Gabon have all withdrawn from the competition, further opening up the field for other teams.
